- In Fundations, we have been learning about the suffix s. Ask your child what a suffix is and the 2 different sounds that the suffix s can make at the end of a word.
- In Writer's Workshop, we have have working on teaching books. Students have been writing books about topics in which they feel they are experts in. Their books contain a table of contents, headings, diagrams, creative titles and so much more! Ask your child what they wrote their teaching book about.
- In Science, we started to study a new animal family with Mrs. Krass. This animal family has 6 legs, 2 antennae and an exoskeleton. Any guesses as to what it might be? Ask your child about this animal family and what they have learned about it so far.
- In Math, we have been working on data analysis including; sorting and classifying data, representing data and describing data. Ask your child what the word data means.
- In Social Studies, we learned about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and what his dream was. Next week, we will be working on a project about our dreams to make the world a better place.
- In Reader's Workshop, we continue to talk about strategies to solve tricky words. We have been reading a variety of fiction and nonfiction books during independent reading and reading groups. Ask your child what the difference between fiction and nonfiction is and what the purpose of each text is.

Reminder, please make sure that you send your child to school with appropriate clothes for winter play! This includes snow pants, boots and shoes to change into, hats, gloves, etc.
