MLK
This week in social studies, first graders have been learning about Martin Luther King, Jr, through videos, books, discussions and projects. After reading "Martin's Big Words" first graders worked in groups to define newly learned vocabulary, including equality, sharing, friendship, and peace. We wrote about the meaning of the words and illustrated the posters.
Here are first graders from 1S and K1G working together in groups:

Happy New Year!
Today we read a book about New Year's Day. We talked about what a resolution was and brainstormed our own resolutions and goals for the year. Students wrote about their goal for 2017 and why this goal was important to them. Ask your child what their New Year's resolution is for 2017!
